Sheet Music.009I’ve touched on other music-inspired heirlooms in past posts, from vinyl records to violins, but few as delicate and romantic as that of sheet music.

In an amazing area of digital recording & music creation, it is so inspiring to see a simple sheet of music propped atop a grand piano being read and elegantly played by a youngster.

The tiny notes dancing across the barred lines on the worn sheets of paper, fancy scripted song titles and the lovely song that is sure to follow by its presence.

I’ve noticed it popping up more and more in the design world as well – gracing tiny gift packages as beautiful wrapping paper or gorgeously framed and on display in living areas.  Something so elegant and classic about their design and purpose.

Learning to read music as a child is something that I cherish, but admittedly must brush up on. An heirloom quality I want to keep alive and well.

papillonThere is nothing finer that a beautifully made bed, with crisp clean sheets and the kind of fluff that makes you want to sink right into it with a warm lamp and a good book.

Heirloom linens are not something of the past. They are alive and well (and lovely) with my own favorite Papillon Linens. The wonderful creator (friend and mentor) Leigh Chandler continues to put out beautiful piece after piece that are timeless and inspiring.

Much like the heirloom linens of napkins & handkerchiefs of days past, linens have long-since been a treasured part of any collection. They can make or break a room, and a properly outfitted set of heirloom linens is certainly worthy of passing down thru the generations of your family.

Some even have their sheets and shams monogrammed to further customize the lasting qualities of the linens.

I do hope you will check out the wonderful pieces at Papillon Linens and gather a collection of heirloom linens for yourself!

Wiss scissors are a simply wonderful heirloom treasure that can often be overlooked if you’re not careful!

The finest scissors in the world, Wiss scissors began in 1814 by a Swiss jeweler in New Jersey with the founding of J. Wiss & Sons Jewelers and have ever-since been a staple in sewing rooms across the world.

The scissors are simply lovely, coming in all shapes & sizes, and I was lucky enough to inherit those from my Grandmother’s collection. They are still sharp as can be and you’d never know their true age. I proudly display my collection in my IceMilk Aprons office, on my desk nestled in a wonderful wooden container.

I remember a past-issue of beloved Domino Magazine that featured Drew Barrymore with her collection of Wiss scissors proudly displayed on her desk.
