Spring Table

Spring has nearly sprung and these are some of my must-haves for setting the perfect Spring table this year. I’d love to know what you need for Spring … what would you add to the table?

With daylight savings time underway and the sun shining just a little bit longer, I figure it’s close enough to spring to go ahead and start the celebration with a little giveaway – don’t you think?

My favorite time of year is coming near, when the weather gets warmer (and by warmer, I mean hot here in the South) and when people come out of the woodwork to have fun and gather together for no reason at all. Spring weddings come to life, and long weekends to the lake & beach are more frequent than not. Fresh fruits & veggies are plentiful, and the grill is always on call to be fired up.

Monogrammed linen napkins & table runner

I am so proud of the new heirloomed collection linens and think they are just perfect for Spring entertaining. I worked hard to keep them simple, yet still distinctive and to keep a balanced juxtaposition of a luxurious linen paired with the rustic, simple kraft pastry packaging. And, I am so thrilled to share that I’ve just added (just now!) the option to have the table runner embroidered if you so wish. You may either have a single letter monogram for the center of the runner, or an “established” date on the detail tag on one end to commemorate a special date. I love the personal touch, and hope you will too.

And now … onto the Spring Giveaway! Hope you’ll join in for a chance to win the heirloomed table linens gift package – a set of four napkins and table runner.

I just launched my brand new line, heirloomed. and went in search of other “heirloom” quality items that make fabulous finds for the holidays for those who appreciate the finer things in life that are lasting. These are a few of my favorites!

Garden & Gun is hands down one of my favorite magazines. It’s a diverse and beautiful magazine that truly captures the essence of the south.  This month they launched a new Southern foodie subscription program called Sideboard and I’m thrilled to announce that we’re partnering with Garden & Gun on this new tradition!

Sideboard is Garden & Gun’s way of sharing the good eats they feature in each issue with you all year long.  Sideboard features a handpicked selection of Southern staples sent every 6-8 weeks for a total of eight seasonal packages throughout the year.

Included in the welcome package sent to each new Sideboard member is an IceMilk Apron, exclusively for Garden & Gun.  Our limited edition apron is from our new heirloomed collection and includes an embroidered G&G signature detail. In addition, the package includes a set of Southern Expression kitchen towels, and an assortment of some favorite recipes from the magazine.

The aprons reflect part of my own personal aesthetic that the magazine speaks to as well, a little bit of outdoors and a focus on fine detail.  And, being such a long-time fan of the magazines I am so honored to be a part of this new southern tradition.

There are few things in this world that are better than southern food and I can’t wait to keep you all updated on Sideboard as it continues to evolve! For more information on this exciting program, be sure to check out their site for more info.

I’ve been hard at work on a new collection and waiting with bated breath to share it with you! As October has come, cooler temperatures on their way, and the holidays are so close you can nearly taste it. The months to come are the ones that true memories are made of. Family and friends will gather; good things are to come.

And, so I’m thrilled to share a sneak peek with you at last of my newest collection …. heirloomed.

The heirloomed collection is comprised of items that only get better with time. Each comes within a kraft package, inspired by the quaint setting of a rustic bakery, and is tied with a red, waxed thread. The collection launches with our 100% linen napkins, table runner and waist apron.

I believe the mantra says it all …

The most cherished and beloved things one can own cannot be purchased. They must first be used and loved and enjoyed. Memories must be created, laughter had and good times spent. Then, and only then, these things become treasures, passed down for generations. And so they become … heirloomed.

Would love to hear your feedback!

I always think giveaways are such a great way to start off the week. I know some people dread Mondays, but I for one love that fresh start to a new week. A much better thought than the end to a weekend – all about perspective.

As I always say, the best thing about Twitter is the people I have met online since I first started tweeting ages ago. And, Alyssa Shelasky of Apron Anxiety is no exception. I was beyond excited when she emailed me about her new book that comes out tomorrow and just knew it would be a great collaboration for us both!

If you haven’t popped over to her blog yet, do so without hesitation. Of course we have the obvious “apron” connection, but I instantly fell in love with her blog. She has a frankness that you don’t see much here in the South, and her personality shines through with every word. But, what I love most is the romantic feel it has. The imagery and her selections have a high fashion meets editorial feel with a throwback nod and I love the look.

I’m just thrilled for Alyssa and her new book of the same name – Apron Anxiety: My Messy Affairs In and Out of the Kitchen. Today, I have a very special giveaway of the book, and tomorrow stay tuned as she joins us for the Heirloom Recipe Series too. I can’t get enough of the splattered recipe card she shares, you won’t want to miss out.

Each day I get more & more excited about the wonderful things I have to share with you here on my blog, and today is certainly no exception. My long-time Twitter friend {we go way back, in Twitter years} Sarah Copeland { or as I like to call her @edibleliving } of blog edible living  has just come out with a brand new cookbook and it could not be more fabulous.

If you know me, you know I’m a sucker for a good clean design and great photography with a rustic edge, and The Newlywed Cookbook captures the aesthetic to a point of perfection. I have a terrible addiction to collecting cookbooks and ones of this look line my shelves just begging me to use them. What I love about this book is the effortlessness each recipe seems to embody. It’s an approach to cooking through great ingredients that is simple, to the point of being completely divine. One fabulous dish after the other; recipes you will actually make over and over again.

I believe the book to be a great reflection of Sarah, who is always upbeat and has a fabulously optimistic and generous outlook on life. In our communications, she is always sure to mention her family and ask about mine, which is so thoughtful and lovely for everyone.

I can only imagine her little Greta cooking by her side! Her past work with Food Network and Good Food Gardens also shines through, with a consistent theme surrounding healthy eating and the “cooks garden.” I love the concept and do hope for my very own garden to actually have some success *this* year!

As we jump headfirst into Spring wedding season {my calendar is packed full of wonderful wedding events, including my best friends wedding next month, hooray!} what better way to celebrate than with a giveaway! One very lucky person will get a copy of The Newlywed Cookbook for your very own, here’s the drill….

Yes, as you may have noticed I’ve been a bit absent from my blogging duties as of late, but I assure you it’s not for lack of actually focusing on the blog. A slight lack of time, perhaps, but nonetheless my hiatus has been due in part to some new things I have brewing.

Taking a slight side-step from “preserves” the blog, being the perpetual marketer that I am at heart, I am so thrilled to introduce you to my newly refreshed site – Heirloomed. In keeping with the same concept of curating wonderful things from the past to be preserved for future generations to enjoy, Heirloomed still includes the same kitchen, entertaining, traditions & Heirloom Recipe Series that preserves did, but allows me a bit more room to explore some of my other passions in life that fall within the realm of heirlooms. Now expanded to home and interiors, fashion and style, soirees and weddings, travel and exploration, and of course, baby and child.

Which really is the perfect segway, isn’t it? We are excitedly expecting our very first child this December, a little boy, and couldn’t be more thrilled to have him in our lives. Continuing on for generations, it’s kind of my sweet spot anyways. More to come on him, of that you can be sure.

And thus, lots of changes but all wonderful in my book. I do hope you enjoy Heirloomed as much as I have enjoyed bringing the concept to life. Would love your feedback on the new, but still old-inspired, site! You can also join Heirloomed on Facebook and Twitter too!

Our delightful friends at Layla Grayce are at it yet again – this time with their top design trend picks from their latest trip to the market.

Hope you’ll take a momento to vote for the “Curated Style” they are featuring where our very own IceMilk Aprons are featured in the style board!

Some refer to the style as curated or found objects, but I like to call it heirloomed. Inspired by the past and the story behind the  piece, these treasures just look like they’ve got a story to tell.
