There are many things I love. Two of them, in no particular order, are summer and magazines.

So, how thrilled was I to be included in Country Living’s recent bloggers choice publish of “50 Things to do this Summer in 50 States” representing my fair state of Georgia. Now, there are some pretty fabulous bloggers here in Georgia so I am oh-so-flattered to be included.

My “off the beaten path” pick was one of my very favorite places to go for a Sunday brunch – Sun in my Belly! There is nothing like a restored hardware store, brunch food, a live folk trio and BYO champagne to enjoy out of a jam jar. Right up my alley? I think so.

I thought it would be fun to share with you some of my other favorite picks for Atlanta!

Favorite Shops: Star Provisions, Simply Put, Urban Cottage, South of Market, London Trading Company, The Mercantile, Huff Harrington Home, Egg’s Nest, Ann Mashburn, B. Braithwaite

Favorite Eats: Cacao, Bella Cucina Porta Via, Valenza, Empire State South, West Egg Cafe, Belly General Store, Cafe Jonah, Portofino

I’ll keep adding to my list – I know there are so many I’ve left off. But, I’d love to hear your “undiscovered” favorites!

Also – I’d love if you’d take a moment and nominate Heirloomed for Country Living’s Blue Ribbon Blogger Awards!

i am so happy to share some photos from the grande opening event of the lovely, new Atlanta store – simply put.

i absolutely adore the unique products that paper designer Ashley Woodman and her uber-talented team have, perfect for gifting! the grande opening of this Westside shop was a great gathering, where I enjoyed meeting several new friends and catching up with a few old ones too. i hope you’ll stop in to say hello and check out the lovely assortment of goodies!

the pillows are just killer and there was a campfire candle that makes me want to go take a hike in the woods and never come back! a giant pewter trophy continues to catch my eye each time I walk in the store, and a fun candy bar that is stocked full of hard-to-find candies. and, just in time for Halloween, i can’t get enough of the not-so-spooky {but super cute!} witch display they have put together with our mother & daughter aprons! isn’t it just adorable?

Mark your calendar folks! IceMilk Aprons is so excited to have the joy and privilege of joining Gena Neely Knox for her cookbook signing at one of our favorite places, Urban Cottage!  Mrs. Knox is kicking off her summer cookbook tour for Southern My Way Saturday, April 23 from 1pm-4pm and we could not be more thrilled to be joining her.

In case you’ve been missing out on the greatness that Gena Knox has created, let us fill you in!  A homemade salsa company turned catering business, creating beautiful landscape architecture on the Georgia coast and starting one of the fastest growing, nationally ranked private companies, Fire and Flavor, with her husband.  Oh and she just wrote her second cookbook, Southern My Way!  Gena’s passion for food, the South, homegrown gardens and family traditions is evident in everything she has created.

Here at IceMilk Aprons we love that her cooking influences come from generations before her, the same traditions she had as a young girl are carried on today, and that she is still trying to master her grandmother’s caramel cake!  If you are in the Atlanta area Saturday the 23rd, please stop by and visit.  Also, check out www.genaknox.com for more information about her book tour and for delicious recipes!  If you would like all the details for the event or would like to RSVP via Facebook please click here.

We had such a lovely time attending today’s Sugar Coma event hosted by our always wonderful friend, Shameeka of The Broke Socialite! Featuring some of Atlanta’s finest confections – from cakes & cupcakes, to chocolates &  maple cotton candy, to coffees & ice creams – truly heaven in the form of sugar!

The highlights for me? Meyer lemon sorbet from the folks at High Road Craft ice cream + sorbet, the red velvet cupcakes from The Fickle Pickle, and the handmade marshmallows from Cacao Atlanta. And, I must say nothing was lovelier in presentation than the *gorgeous* pecan pies from West Egg – which somehow I failed to capture visually … along with the beautiful simplicity of the maple cotton candy from Maple Farm.

A glorious time, and yes as you might imagine, still in a sugar coma over here … take a moment to click to view the rest of our photos from this event!

IceMilk Aprons is thrilled to announce we are now in-store at The Mercantile, a fabulous home design boutique in the Brookhaven neighborhood of Atlanta.

Run by designer Barbara Heath, I personally have been swooning over this store since it moved into the neighborhood and seem to find a new wonderful treasure each time I stop in. They carry wonderful collections like Trowbridge and Match, and have some of the most unique lighting & sofa pieces I’ve seen in all in one place. One of my favorite finds was a small horn spreader that I use nearly every time I entertain (how fabulous!)

Another perk of this tasteful boutique is their affiliation with Taigan, an online membership-only selection of the finest boutiques & wares, coupled with their online registry services.

We are so thrilled to have a home within The Mercantile. Do stop in & peruse!

Located in the preserved & bustling Virginia-Highlands neighborhood in Atlanta, we are excited to have Urban Cottage as our newest Gourmet Retailer of IceMilk Aprons.

Housed in a fabulously quaint cottage set just off the road, Urban Cottage has a myriad of wonderful items, both large & small. Their beautiful furniture is all custom and can be tailored to your every whim – a gorgeous tufted ottoman caught my eye immediately.

You’ll be quick to notice a fabulous selection of carefully chosen books – from cookbooks to home to wedding to idea inspiration – all urging you to flip through. One of my favorite finds was pinched pottery from a local potter in Cabbagetown, with a rustic finish and done in fabulous neutrals. Mother & daughter Silverstein team own this glorious shop, along with the beautifully designed Breathless Paper Co. well worth taking a peek.

We are thrilled to be in the treasure-filled Urban Cottage and excited to have them as a partner – hope you’ll stop in for a visit!

In my very humble opinion, there are few places in this world more delightful than Serenbe. Located just south of Atlanta, the community was build as an organic farm with green-space galore and the most whimsical little town you could ever imagine.

I am so delighted to share that IceMilk Aprons has partnered with our newest Gourmet Retailer, Harris & Clark – a “thoughtful grocery & food school” located in the heart of the Serenbe community. Founded by Anissa & James Harris, the duo aims to provide a nostalgic & local Southern fare of artisan products within their quaint market space.

From pear butter and pickled peaches, to Farmer D’s organic compost, fabulous loaves of crusty bread, the most beautiful local honey you’ve seen, farm fresh eggs & local cheeses, and of course – IceMilk Aprons. They have so many wonderful cooking school events that are hosted there at Harris & Clark, partnering with local folks to help bring some gourmet learnings & good times.

Spending the late afternoon with Anissa & James was such a wonderful experience and I’m thrilled to be a part of what they have created with their shop. Stay tuned for a special “Heirloom Travel” post on Serenbe, but in the meantime be sure to go out for a visit and explore all there is to love about this little place lost in time.

IceMilk Aprons so proudly announces our newest Gourmet Retailer, Bella Cucina.

The gourmet line of artful foods, founded by the delightfully engaging Alisa Barry, has a perfectly-packaged and savory experience that cannot be missed.  The flagship store is located in the oh-so-charming neighborhood of Virginia-Highlands in Atlanta, however their distribution does not stop there. From the nooks & crannies of fabulously unique gourmet retail stores, to gift stores, to the superior Henry Bendel, Bella Cucina has certainly made a place for themselves and has quite a following of foodies around the globe.

The Italian gem of a store is so perfectly appointed that it may possibly be the perfect home for IceMilk Aprons to be showcased. The pictures speak for themselves but the design is simple, rustic elegance to the max, with dreamy oversized fabric shades hanging from the ceilings and gourmet goodies scattered amidst garden-fresh veggies and worn wooden fixtures. Delish.

Our line of gourmet heirloom aprons debuted in the Bella Cucina store this August for their weekly Artisan Thursday event, another can’t-miss-moment when experiencing Bella Cucina.

We at IceMilk Aprons are so very thrilled to be involved with this timeless brand, honoring the luxury of food and recalling recipes of generations past. A special thank you and warm welcome to Alisa & her team as we embrace them as another wonderful Gourmet Retailer showcasing the IceMilk Apron line!

It is that time of year, Summer. When we are lucky enough to find the twinkling of tiny fireflies in tall grass fields all around. A joyous time.

Fireflies create an instant memory & a lasting family tradition. Hours spent chasing them, waiting until just the right moment when the illuminate long enough to find them and capturing them tightly in a great big preserves jar with holes gently puncturing the lid for air. A wonderful glow of lights captured for everyone to enjoy creates a lifetime of family times spent playing.

The wonderful Barnsley Gardens, just north of Atlanta, has a delightful “Fireflies” evening event that is held in their heirloom gardens. Sounds like the perfect place to create some family traditions of your own!

IceMilk Aprons is proud to share that we are now in-store at darling Ivy & Twine located in Marietta, Georgia near the historic Marietta Town Square.

We couldn’t be more excited to be in the Atlanta area, and I knew the moment I walked in the door that new store Ivy & Twine was the ideal shop for us to plant our roots. With a wonderful array of antique pieces, fresh potted herbs, unique jewelry pieces and simply fabulous entertaining pieces (my very favorite being burlap pillows and table runners), Terri and Trisha have simply been a joy to work with. You can surely see their passion and creativity shine through in each of their pieces.

The shop is located near the charming Marietta Town Square area, which boasts several restaurants, an old theatre, wonderful museums & antique stores and the Gone with the Wind musuem among many other wonderful treasures that makes for a worthwhile visit. And Ivy & Twine is also located just next door to a wonderful bakery owned by Paula Deen’s cousin!

I do hope you’ll stop in for a visit!
