With daylight savings time underway and the sun shining just a little bit longer, I figure it’s close enough to spring to go ahead and start the celebration with a little giveaway – don’t you think?

My favorite time of year is coming near, when the weather gets warmer (and by warmer, I mean hot here in the South) and when people come out of the woodwork to have fun and gather together for no reason at all. Spring weddings come to life, and long weekends to the lake & beach are more frequent than not. Fresh fruits & veggies are plentiful, and the grill is always on call to be fired up.

Monogrammed linen napkins & table runner

I am so proud of the new heirloomed collection linens and think they are just perfect for Spring entertaining. I worked hard to keep them simple, yet still distinctive and to keep a balanced juxtaposition of a luxurious linen paired with the rustic, simple kraft pastry packaging. And, I am so thrilled to share that I’ve just added (just now!) the option to have the table runner embroidered if you so wish. You may either have a single letter monogram for the center of the runner, or an “established” date on the detail tag on one end to commemorate a special date. I love the personal touch, and hope you will too.

And now … onto the Spring Giveaway! Hope you’ll join in for a chance to win the heirloomed table linens gift package – a set of four napkins and table runner.

I’ve been hard at work on a new collection and waiting with bated breath to share it with you! As October has come, cooler temperatures on their way, and the holidays are so close you can nearly taste it. The months to come are the ones that true memories are made of. Family and friends will gather; good things are to come.

And, so I’m thrilled to share a sneak peek with you at last of my newest collection …. heirloomed.

The heirloomed collection is comprised of items that only get better with time. Each comes within a kraft package, inspired by the quaint setting of a rustic bakery, and is tied with a red, waxed thread. The collection launches with our 100% linen napkins, table runner and waist apron.

I believe the mantra says it all …

The most cherished and beloved things one can own cannot be purchased. They must first be used and loved and enjoyed. Memories must be created, laughter had and good times spent. Then, and only then, these things become treasures, passed down for generations. And so they become … heirloomed.

Would love to hear your feedback!

Yesterday was the first official day of summer, though I’ve been celebrating for quite some time already. I think these throw-backs will help keep you in the summer spirit!

Throw-Back’s: Kinfolk: A Guide for Small Gatherings { a quarterly magazine that will inspire a few memories of your own} J.Crew necklace  { vintage-inspired settings would be great for anything from t-shirt to LBD } / Restoration Hardware Deconstructed Highback Wing Chair { the wing has such a regal touch, coupled with the undone finish makes it livable } / Stainless Steel Bendy Straws { a redo of one of our favorite kid classics }

Thursday is one of my favorite days of the week, and since you guys seemed to love the Throw-Back Thursday picks last time I’m continuing it into a little series here on Heirloomed.

With Father’s Day right around the corner, I think today’s picks are perfect for any Dad!

Throw-Back’s: Calling Cards by Seaborn Press { if you don’t have them, you should } / Shoe Shine Brush { for some reason I can’t help but love the luxury of this brush, reminds me of being at the barn} / Typewriter iPad Keyboard { I may not be able to live without this gem} / Warby Parker’s Colonel Monocle { such a throwback, yet classic and timeless in tortoise}.

I have noticed several celebrities who have come out with cookbooks giving a nod to the family members that inspired them. I was so tickled when Gwyneth Paltrow gave an IceMilk Aprons shout out in her funny Mother’s Day column on LA WEEKLY { check it out  here } last month, so I wanted to return the favor with a little look into her first cookbook – My Father’s Daughter.

My Father’s Daughter: Delicious, Easy Recipes Celebrating Family & Togetherness – what could be a more perfect theme? She found her passion of cooking from her father and shares her favorite family recipes and family stories. Sure to be a heirloom treat!

And, if you haven’t signed up for Gwyneth’s GOOP emails, be sure to pop over to do so. I love her picks & tidbits, and know you will too.

I always notice {and pin} vintage-inspired items that I see come out. Of course if you know me by now, you know I love when people find throw-back elements they love and bring them back in a current way that works for today. It’s not dated, not stale or old – it’s something new and fresh but with a fabulously old-school feel.

So today I bring you some of my favorite recent throw-back finds. This just may become a more regular series on the heirloomed blog … what do you think? Would you like to see it?

Throw-Back’s : Karlsson’s limited-edition Batch 2008 potato vodka {click over, a good read!} /Restoration Hardware baby & child 19th C. Quatrefoil Iron Bed {because I must include my favorite RH} / Best Made Company Cloth Extension Cord {adore the design} / iRetrophone Steampunk phone {yes that’s an iPhone in there!}

Like many people with an entrepreneurial spirit, I have many mentors to thank for where I am today.

I am a big believer in mentoring and the amazing impact that can be had when one takes the time to share their craft with someone who is passionate. Though I have many family members to thank for their advice and support over the years, one of my business mentors is friend Leigh Chandler of Papillon Linens. I have Leigh to thank for her kindness, patience and every step of the way in setting me up to tangibly succeed.

But, sometimes on a rare occasion, you make an impact without even realizing you are doing so. I received the most wonderful email several months back from Krista Montalvo. Krista owns Ginger Magnolia Catering {which means she’s a fabulous cook, of course!} and emailed me to let me know of a new business she had recently launched – Marmie Bags.

Krista told me in her note that IceMilk Aprons had inspired her to create Marmie Bags. She had connected with the story of our roots, having had the same fond relationship with her Grandmother that I did. She now has children of her own, who lovingly call their Grandmother “Marmie.” I was so taken aback and inspired by her note and have enjoyed popping over and perusing her bags. I love the vintage feel she brings to the product and cheer her on as she continues to grow her business.

I am thrilled that we are hosting our first official giveaway on heirloomed with Marmie Bags, and even more thrilled with the bag she’s giving away! This fabulous bag is very reminiscent of our “Rollings of Cinnamon” apron – I just adore the big black bow and simplicity of the styling.

This lovely little bag could be all yours and entering is easy! You’ll get a new chance to enter for doing each of the below, with a total of four entries per person:

1. Leave a comment below with your best words of inspiration for Marmie and others who are launching their own businesses!

Yes, as you may have noticed I’ve been a bit absent from my blogging duties as of late, but I assure you it’s not for lack of actually focusing on the blog. A slight lack of time, perhaps, but nonetheless my hiatus has been due in part to some new things I have brewing.

Taking a slight side-step from “preserves” the blog, being the perpetual marketer that I am at heart, I am so thrilled to introduce you to my newly refreshed site – Heirloomed. In keeping with the same concept of curating wonderful things from the past to be preserved for future generations to enjoy, Heirloomed still includes the same kitchen, entertaining, traditions & Heirloom Recipe Series that preserves did, but allows me a bit more room to explore some of my other passions in life that fall within the realm of heirlooms. Now expanded to home and interiors, fashion and style, soirees and weddings, travel and exploration, and of course, baby and child.

Which really is the perfect segway, isn’t it? We are excitedly expecting our very first child this December, a little boy, and couldn’t be more thrilled to have him in our lives. Continuing on for generations, it’s kind of my sweet spot anyways. More to come on him, of that you can be sure.

And thus, lots of changes but all wonderful in my book. I do hope you enjoy Heirloomed as much as I have enjoyed bringing the concept to life. Would love your feedback on the new, but still old-inspired, site! You can also join Heirloomed on Facebook and Twitter too!
